This picturesque community was constructed along a steep hillside – some sections of the town were built over the water on pilings. Hiking trails surround the town, which has a treasure trove of historical attractions, including Dolly’s House Museum and numerous displays of totem poles, including those at Totem Bight State Historic Park, which contains a historic collection of totem poles and a native clan house, a reproduction of those built in the early 19th century. Located 10 miles north of Ketchikan in a beautiful cove, the park is home to a model native village. |
