Magical Trip!

Our trip to Silverking this year was nothing short of magic!!! My brother and lifelong friend and I new from the first ten minutes on the water that the trip was going to be something special--we trolled 50 feet and caught our first husky silver. Bob caught it and couldn't believe it happened so fast and with such savagery. We landed the fish and within another 50 feet were slammed again by a mean wart hog silver that put on a aerobatic display that drops Alaska fever all over your body. All that went until we were "rescued " by the PT crew (remember) and were late for supper. The next five days cannot be equaled again ever but we will try again next year. The photo attached says tons about our trip. We look mean but we were just tired from fishing 13 hours straight. More later .

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for the trip of a lifetime. These two guys both mean the world to me and to get to fish in that place at that time was truely magic.

Three Resident Deer

Three deer frequent Silverking Lodge this year—one two-year old buck, and two does. The buck, although shy of most people, eats out of the hand of a few familiar people. They stay out of trouble most of the time, but we caught them getting into a box of nectarines last week, and they really seem to love the cabbage that was intended for the guests. I guess we’ll wait for that coleslaw.

Lynn Elliott is back for her 14th season as the cook at Silverking Lodge. Home-made bread and cookies every day are her trademark as well as delicious food for every meal. Lynn has taken on some management responsibilities this year to lighten Kirk's load a bit. She's doing a fabulous job. Thanks to her recipe-sharing philosophy--she shares willingly. You may be making "a bit of heaven" at home too. In response to a comment like, "Lynn, this is really good!" you will hear, "Good and good for you."

New Walkway

A new trail was blazed into the woods behind the lodge in June. The Evezich crew of six built 260 feet of beautifully crafted boardwalk ending in an octagonal deck. The walkway curves through the woods and is wheelchair accessible. The plan is to build more onto the project next year ending at some huge old cedar trees on the west side of the property. The deck will serve as the midpoint of the walkway. Many thanks to Louis, Scott, Kurt, Kelly, Ryan and Chad!!

Back Again

Ellis and Geri Jonas accompanied by their son, Dan visited Silverking in August. Ellis and Geri both worked at the lodge many years ago. So good to see friend who just keep coming back.

ONE BIG FISH!

A monster of a king salmon was caught in June this year. Bob's fish weighed at 45 lbs. He hit the last of the king salmon run just right.
